Installing a new font is pretty straight forward and only takes a few minutes to do. Once you know how to do it you will be ready to explore the world of many beautiful fonts!
1. Download the Font
The font I used on my "Santa Claus" letter is called "Spring Time" (click here to download). There are loads of free fonts on internet to download, just check the copyright regulations on where you can use it as everyone is different. This is one of the most popular font site, www.dafont.com
2. Extract the file (if needed)
This step isn't required unless the font file (.TTF or .OTF) is zipped with other files (preview and T&C). I use WinRAR as it's easy to use and free. Simply drag the TTF (TrueType Font) or OTF (OpenType Font) file to desktop.
3. Drag TTF/OTF to Fonts in Control Panel
Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Fonts
Drag and drop the TTF/OTF file from desktop to the fonts folder.
And that's it! The new fonts will appear in your font list immediately without restarting the computer or programme. I hope this tutorial has helped, if you want more tutorials about graphic design, feel free to send me a message on Instagram: @nina.mackenzie Nina
